Banker’s Hours: The New Co-Working Space (And why co-working space is important for your well-being)

The fact that I’m witnessing a pandemic in my generation is still wrestling with my mind’s ability to accept something I was sure we were ‘too advanced’ to be taken down by.

And yet, what hits me harder every single day is not the pandemic or virus itself, but the behavior it demands of us. I watch us all distance ourselves and not gather. I see masks and separation that is isolating. The necessity to stay well and protect each other requires that we, to some degree, stand apart.

But that does not mean we cannot be a part of something.

Community is still alive and well, pandemic or no. No matter how long we have to stay away, we still belong.

Studies after studies show the importance of community and a sense of belonging to an individual. To you and me.

Don’t forget to belong. You can still do so safely.

A 2015 journal article published on the National Center for Biotechnology Information stated, “people take pride in, and derive meaning from, important group memberships.”

So, at Banker’s Hours Co-Working, we bring you memberships! We’re a new co-working space reviving an old space that those local to the area know well and those new to the area will appreciate. Let me give you a little background:

At sometime during his criminal career (1920’s to 1980’s) The infamous bank robber, Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks by reporter Mitch Ohnstad.

Willie is said to have replied, "Because that's where the money is..."

While Willie denied ever having spoken the legendary string of words, whoever said it made an impact and from it came the metaphor for 'the obvious' aka Sutton’s law.

We think if you have to choose a co-working space to get your work done, find your greatest inspiration, or keep your work-from-home addled brain sharp, the obvious choice is to work where the money is.

Banker's Hours Co-Working space is in downtown Marshall on the ground floor of the old Bank of the French Broad building. From the stunning vault door and subtle century-specific details to modern, functional work stations, you'll find no better place to set your mind to work.

We’re opening soon!

With WI-FI, meeting space, office space, and even office space you can rent-by-the-hour, we'd make the likes of John Dillinger proud.

If you’re new to co-working, the space functions as a membership. With our Anytime membership, you get 24/7 access via an app which lets you in the front door to work when it suits you best.

Just need meeting space?

You don't have to be a member to reserve The Wild Bunch conference room or The John Dillinger by-the-hour office. Simply click and reserve, you’ll get access at the day and time of your reservation. (More details at bankershrs.com)

If you haven't seen the space - we invite you to check out our new site at bankershrs.com and watch your inbox for our grand opening announcement.

For our grand opening rather than hold a single event, we’re spreading it out over weeks, so you’ll have plenty of time to stop by and see the space safely. We'll leave our doors open so anyone can come in during specified hours to see the beautiful historic space now your favorite place to get work done.

Banker’s Hours Co-working is more than space to access the internet or hold a meeting. It’s a community that is forming with a focus on working together.

Community educational workshops and classes will be available to everyone, member or not.

If you’re interested in learning more about online platforms that help us work remotely or online marketing to grow your business, we’ll help gain the knowledge you need. From remote employees, to freelancers and entrepreneurs, we’ll help you grow and cultivate an environment of prosperity for all.

You can be a part of our community safely with plenty of space to work 6 feet apart or at odd hours when the day is quieter. We’ll keep you informed, updated, and connected as part of the Banker’s Hours community.

We want you to take pride in belonging and find meaning in your local co-working space membership as we change the way we work and connect where the money is.
